Yoga is a discipline that unites your body and mind with different technical exercises.
Most people who practice yoga will point to how it can drastically improve your well-being, posture, and strengthen both your body and mind. However, you can also enjoy more balance in your life, clear your mind, reduce stress, or just simply relax with yoga. Whether you learn an intensive course, weekly classes, work with a private tutor, there are plenty of ways to learn how to do yoga. If you can’t travel to classes, why not learn yoga online? Why would you choose to do online yoga classes with a yoga teacher?
Pros of Learn Yoga Online:
Online yoga teacher training allows you to work at your own pace and under your own conditions. Not everyone is a “classroom” learner, lots of people work best when they can set up their space the way they prefer, with access to the comforts of their own life.
It can save you money.
Embedded in the cost of teacher training are usually expenses for studio and equipment rental, printed lessons, etc. Not to mention travel to and from and possibly parking, too.
It will keep you on the cutting edge of what’s happening in the world of yoga today. This might not be for those who are set on mastering the Ashtanga practice as laid out by Pattabi Jois, but lots of people are taking yoga and putting their own twist on it, combining yoga with pilates, acrobatics, even boot camp. Online learning can help you customize your unique style.
Cons:
In-person training has the benefit of hands-on experience. Many yoga teachers are compassionate people and need one-on-one experience—having someone else’s hands to help guide your body into perfect alignment might be easier than doing it on your own.
Going down the computer hole. Sometimes hours and days go by and it feels like all we’ve been doing is staring at a computer. Taking an online course increases the amount of screen time you’ll be committing to so it’s something that should be considered. Plus, if you are in a studio and surrounded by others learning about and are passionate about the same things you are, you might just walk away with a new friend.
If you are committing to taking your teacher training online, you may have to exercise some patience. While in-person, you can ask questions directly and receive an immediate response, with online training you are more responsible for obtaining the information you seek. Teachers will still be available online, but it’s not always as easy to get the specific information you are after.
Now it’s time to get positive!
