What The Work Involves

Once you’re qualified, working as a Yoga instructor can be varied and rewarding.

  • You’ll be teaching a range of poses, becoming more complex as time goes on and depending on the levels your clients are at.
  • You’ll be designing classes for all abilities, reviewing your students, and maybe branching out into specialist areas.
  • Helping your clients work on their health and wellbeing.
  • You will also need to spend time finding clients. This means you’ll get the chance to do a bit of everything – marketing, sales, and social media.

Hours

As a Yoga instructor, your hours will need to fit around your student’s lifestyles.

Unlike the normal 9 to 5, you’ll get to set your own hours but you may have to be a little flexible and work some evenings and weekends. Most Yoga teachers choose to work part-time.

Income

Your salary will depend on your level and whether you work for a gym or you’re self-employed.

If you’re employed you can expect to earn between £20 and £30 per hour. If you decide to go self-employed, you can charge anywhere between £5 and £15 for group sessions or between £35 and £60 for private classes.
