Two YogaFX graduates brought home seven medals from the first World Yogasana Sport Championship. The event ran in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, from 4 to 8 June 2026. It was the first official world championship in the sport’s history.
Mr. Arkan Fauzan Riyanto and Ms. Ivara Candra Kartika competed for Indonesia and its 280 million people. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations Jakarta (ICCR Jakarta) confirmed the medal count. On top of that, local offices and press in Indonesia confirmed it.
YogaFX is built on one idea: strict practice and strict teaching are the same skill. So this result shows what our graduates take with them when they leave Bali. YogaFX is the main academy and home base for Hot 26&2 (Bikram-style) yoga teacher training, based in Seminyak, Bali.
Ms. Ivara Candra Kartika: A 2023 Graduate’s World Championship Season
Ms. Ivara Candra Kartika won Gold and Bronze in Ahmedabad. She first completed her Bikram Hot 26&2 RYT 200-hour certification with YogaFX in 2023. She posted the news on her verified Instagram account. There she called herself a “World Yogasana Champion representing Indonesia, in Ahmedabad, India.” She added that she was “Grateful to bring home a Gold and Bronze Medal for Indonesia.”
Ahmedabad was her third podium of the season. First came Gold in the MasterClass competition division at FORNAS VIII in Indonesia in July 2025. Then came Silver at the Asian Yogasana Championships in the UAE in August 2025. Finally came Gold and Bronze at the World Championship in June 2026. Since then, Ms. Kartika has taught regularly at our Seminyak, Bali studio.
Mr. Arkan Fauzan Riyanto: A 2022 Graduate’s Five-Medal Campaign
Mr. Arkan Fauzan Riyanto, a 2022 graduate, returned from Ahmedabad with two Silver and three Bronze medals. The official website of the Tangerang City Government also reported the result. It called him a yoga practitioner from Tangerang. He had, in its words, “successfully brought home five medals at the World Yogasana Championship.” Local Banten outlets Banten Now and RMBanten confirmed the same count.
His Ahmedabad run followed a strong record at FORNAS, Indonesia’s National Sports Week. According to the Tangerang City Youth and Sports Office (DISPORA), he secured a “three-peat” title there. In fact, he took the asana single category for the under-40 age group, first in 2022, then again in 2023 and 2025.
A National Coaching Effort, Built From Bali
Both athletes trained under Mr. Ian Terry, our founder, in person. He serves as Master Trainer of the Republic of Indonesia Yogasana Sports Federation. Besides that, he is National Coach to the Indonesian Yogasana team.
Mr. Terry also works with the sport’s leaders abroad. For example, he met the UAE Minister of Sports during the Asian Yoga Federation Championship in Dubai. In Ahmedabad, he met the Chairman and board of the World Yogasana Sports Federation. The talks focused on one goal: Olympic test event status by 2032, then full Olympic status by 2036.
A third graduate helps run the national team. Mr. Slamet Ariyanto, a 2024 graduate, now chairs the Yoga Practitioner Association of Indonesia (PPYNI). He is also Team Manager, so he runs the squad’s entry into events like Ahmedabad. In all, our graduates have now won 12 medals for Indonesia: 5 Gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronze.
From the Training Room to the World Stage
Neither Ms. Kartika nor Mr. Riyanto arrived as competitive athletes. Instead, both took our standard Bikram Hot 26&2 RYT 200-hour course, the same one listed on our course inclusions page. Only afterwards did they go on to compete and coach at national, then world, level.
That matters because nothing in their training was built for contests. Instead, they drilled the same posture clinics, the same dialogue work and the same practice teaching every YogaFX graduate trains in. The medals just show what that work gives at contest level.

What is Yogasana sport?
Yogasana sport is yoga judged as a sport. Athletes perform a set run of asanas in front of judges. Then the judges score depth, form, control and hold time. The World Yogasana Sports Federation runs it worldwide. In Indonesia, the Republic of Indonesia Yogasana Sports Federation runs it.
Is Yogasana an Olympic sport?
Not yet. The sport’s world body says it aims for Olympic test event status by 2032, then full Olympic status by 2036. But those are its own targets. Treat them as goals, not as firm rulings by the International Olympic Committee.
