One of the beautiful things about yoga is that we can share our job all over the world. Yoga studios are popping up from Thailand to Tasmania – and they are looking for an online yoga teacher.

Whether you are looking to build up your resume, move to an exotic location, or teach while traveling long term, there are many opportunities to volunteer or earn money as a yoga teacher abroad. All of these suggestions can be accessed from anywhere…as long as you have a wifi connection!

Workaway

online yoga teacher job - YogaFX

Workaway.info is a worldwide site dedicated to setting up cultural exchanges. Travelers can look for families, businesses, or communities that need volunteers. Most Workaway positions offer free accommodation and food in exchange for a few hours of work a day, but the exact details are up to the host. While Workaway has a wide variety of work (au pair work, language exchange, hostel jobs, etc.), a lot of communities or yoga retreats are looking for teachers. Some of these opportunities offer payment, but most are limited to free accommodation and food (which can be a pretty sweet deal if you can score an opportunity at a yoga retreat or hotel.)

Tip: Before you take a Workaway position, check to see what visa you will need. Some countries are more strict than others about travelers taking volunteer positions.

Yoga Trade

If you are looking for a similar site, but specifically for yoga and wellness jobs, check out Yogatrade.com. Yoga Trade allows travelers to find yoga and wellness jobs from Vietnam to Virginia. Even if you are not a teacher yet, you can find opportunities to become certified in exchange for work. Yoga retreats also post listings for videographers, studio owners, or masseuses. Visitors can browse the site and opportunities for free, but a subscription is required to contact employers and seal the deal. Yoga Trade also offers resources on how to purchase travel insurance and stay safe as a teacher on the go.

Yogatraveljobs

Looking for an additional site to look for yoga teaching jobs? Keep yogatraveljobs in your back pocket. The site also has opportunities for volunteer, work exchange, paid jobs, and business opportunities.

Facebook Groups

When you’re ready to settle down in one place, get to know the community. Get on Facebook and join a group for yoga teachers or practitioners in the area – most big cities will have them! These groups are great resources; you can find cover jobs, studios looking for permanent teachers, and ask questions about required insurance and certifications in the area. Facebook groups are also a great way to discover online yoga teacher jobs (and networking opportunities) in the area.

Local Job Sites

Don’t forget to expand your search to websites like Craigslist, Indeed, or Gumtree! Studios may advertise teaching or management positions on these more general sites. If you are looking to work your way up to a managerial position, these sites may be more useful and suited to the online yoga teacher job you are looking for.

Teach Yoga Online

Don’t want to let your current students go? Connect with them online! Teachers can host private or group classes in real-time online through Skype or class platforms like Namastream. Students can purchase memberships or pay per class, depending on how you want to structure your classes and payment. These classes can also be pre-recorded or broadcasted at the same time every week. Teaching online requires more set-up than a traditional studio job – but you’ll have the flexibility of teaching where you want when you want.

Don’t Forget to Show Up!

If you’ve just arrived in a new country, a quick Google search will show you the yoga studios in the area. The best way to make a good impression at potential yoga studios is to show up, take a class, and introduce yourself to the teacher and managers after class.

Keep a copy of your resume on hand.
