One of the most common questions we get about requirements for yoga teacher training participation is how much yoga experience is necessary to embark on this journey. This sounds like a very obvious question to ask and yet it’s quite a new question. The first yoga teacher training was in the ’80s by seasoned teachers to loyal students. This created opportunities for many different people to enter teacher training. Besides future teachers, any level student can now join a teacher training to deepen their practice. This means you don’t need much experience to enter yoga teacher training. So here are 5 requirements for a yoga instructor.

Learn Yoga

Start by taking classes at your local gym, in group classes, or with a fitness instructor. Then advance to a studio setting to help you learn about various teaching techniques and styles.

Find a type of yoga that suits you best as well as a person to act as a mentor, to assist in your journey and ask questions through the process of becoming certified.
